Time to oneself
I went out to spend some time with J and stayed with her for the weekend. From Friday night to Monday morning it was a relief to be able to enjoy some time for me and her, some time to relax, some time to have a laugh and ignore the pressures of home life, work and illness among other things which have been pressing on me lately.
There wasn't a particular flurry of activity but it didn't matter, we spent a day doing the shops (albeit mostly the girly ones) in newcastle with a few friends and we slobbed out in front of lame, cheesy but oddly satisfying films. On the Sunday, what was meant to be a short walk between just myself and her escalated into a ten mile trek through the pouring rain and we ended up home, soaked to the skin, covered in muck and scrapes and I learned the lesson that I should always check the weather forecast thoroughly before wearing a white t-shirt.
Aside from a brief strike of illness, it was a carefree weekend, something which I've needed for a long time and something which has done me the world of good.

When will it end?
A particularly harsh spell of queasiness struck and I found myself dashing like a maniac too and from the toilet to empty what appeared to be the vast contents of my stomach and possibly the rest of my body into the toilets at work in between serving unpleasant ladies and gentlemen of the public.
My painful spells of vomiting culminated in a short period of passing out, something I have not experienced for quite some time.
In the middle of a 46 hour week, it is not a pleasant prospect to be feeling ill to this degree and I hope it manages to hold itself off at least for the time being when I can give it more of my attention and focus.
Hey I have a weekend holiday coming up...perhaps it can ruin that?
I'll pen it in my diary.

An eye opener
I was quite taken by surprise. While I knew that children were educated about sex at an early age, it is a different thing altogether to encourage it.
An article titled 'how to really get your boyfriend to love you' involved advice on how to talk dirty and how to perfrom successful oral sex.
And then there was a main spread feature called 'my first time sex' which was a number of quotes from the magazine readers discussing the loss of their virginity. There were tales of drunk fourteen year olds in the bed of a parent, a thirteen year old having unprotected sex with a fifteen year old and two 'soulmates' who found the right time...and split up2 weeks later.
The worst thing was...there was not one negative thing in these quotes. The phrase 'no regrets' popped up incessantly and some described their experiences proudly and said things like: 'now I don't need to feel left out'
Well...just wow. Next time someone ponders why underage pregancy has soared over the last few years, I'll pass them the subscription details to this magazine
This made me larf...
International Rules Of Manhood:
1: Under no circumstances may two men share an umbrella.
2: It is ok for a man to cry ONLY under the following circumstances:
a. When a heroic dog dies to save its master.
b. The moment Angelina Jolie starts unbuttoning her blouse.
c. After wrecking your boss' car.
d. One hour, 12 minutes, 37 seconds into "The Crying Game".
e. When she is using her teeth.
3: Any man who brings a camera to a stag party may be legally killed and eaten by his mates.
4: Unless he murdered someone in your family, you must bail a friend out of jail within 12 hours.
5: If you've known a guy for more than 24 hours, his sister is off limits forever unless you actually marry her.
6: Moaning about the brand of free beer in a mates fridge is forbidden. However complain at will if the temperature is unsuitable.
7: No man shall ever be required to buy a birthday present for another man . In fact, even remembering your mates birthday is strictly optional.
8: On a road trip, the strongest bladder determines pit stops, not the weakest.
9: When stumbling upon other guys watching a sporting event, you may ask the score of the game in progress, but you may never ask who's playing.
10: You may flatulate in front of a woman only after you have brought her to climax. If you trap her head under the covers for the purpose of flatulent entertainment, she's officially your girlfriend.
11: It is permissible to drink a fruity alcohol drink only when you're sunning on a tropical beach... and it's delivered by a topless model and only when it's free.
12: Only in situations of moral and/or physical peril are you allowed to kick another guy in the nuts.
13: Unless you're in prison, never fight naked.

17: A man in the company of a hot, suggestively dressed woman must remain sober enough to fight.
18: Never hesitate to reach for the last beer or the last slice of pizza , but not both, that's just greedy.
19: If you compliment a guy on his six-pack, you'd better be talking about his choice of beer.
20: Never join your girlfriend or wife in discussing a friend of yours, except if she's withholding sex pending your response.
21: Phrases that may NOT be uttered to another man while lifting weights:
a. Yeah, Baby, Push it!
b. C'mon, give me one more! Harder!
c. Another set and we can hit the showers!
22: Never talk to a man in a bathroom unless you are on equal footing: i.e., both urinating, both waiting in line, etc. For all other situations, an almost imperceptible nod is all the conversation you need.
23: Never allow a telephone conversation with a woman to go on longer than you are able to have sex with her. Keep a stopwatch by the phone. Hang up if necessary.
24: The morning after you and a girl who was formerly "just a friend" have carnal drunken monkey sex, the fact that you're feeling weird and guilty is no reason for you not to nail each other again before the discussion about what a big mistake it was occurs.
25: It is acceptable for you to drive her car. It is not acceptable for her to drive yours.
26: Thou shall not buy a car in the colours of brown, pink, lime green, orange or sky blue.
27: The girl who replies to the question "What do you want for Christmas?" with "If you loved me, you'd know what I want!" gets an Xbox. End of story.
28: There is no reason for guys to watch Ice Skating or Men's Gymnastics. Ever!
29. If you walk into a bathroom and a man is using one of the urinals, you must have at least 1 urinal spaced between the two of you. No exceptions!

Okay, maybe just a bit TOO deep?
It's like this. They were good friends and are now an item. HE is convinced it is love. So is she.
So convinced it's love they are IN LOVE. So convinced it's love that they feel the need to say I love you every waking moment.
So in love that they also worry when I love you is not said. Or are concerned the other doesn't feel the same. Or wonder if for some reason an impending split is coming on when the other doesn't grope, molest and snog furiously every five minutes.
This paranoia manages to drive a wedge between them every single week without fail. There a tearful phone calls, obsessive texts, awwkard situations, threats to splits then joyous declarations of love...before another thing kciks it all off the next day.
So with all this going on...where is the time to actually enjoy the relationship?
Call me an idiot, but surely the whole idea of a relationship is to spend time with someone you care about, see them, enjoy their company, have a laugh and feel special?
Not argue constantly about who loves who more?
Saying I love you all the time, after every email, in every sentence, will soon render the phrase defunct. it's a very intimate and special set of words, arguably one of the most influential and important phrases you will ever use. You are taking the special element out of it if it is used in this way, surely.
And a relationship shouldnt always be about seriousness and commitment. Those serious, romantic and important moments where you share things, admit your feelings and declare your devotion to that person should be combined with light hearted times spent with eachother. With the best friend in your whole world, you're meant to have a laugh as well. you';re meant to joke together. If you're writing love sonnets and feeling the need to assure your commitment to the other person every moment of the relationship, it is no longer special and just becomes routine and expected. Which takes the whole point of those 'special' moments away.
Personally I can't see what they are both fighting for. All they seem to be striving to keep is more aggrivation, stress and paranoia. Somewhere along the line they have lost the way and forgotton what a relationshiop is actually about.
Routine Boredom
What I'm talking about is setting up a day by day routine. All right, so some things are unavoidable. Work for example, you can't just wander in whenever you please or just decide that you don't want to go in.
But setting your entire life up like a rota puzzles me. I cannot see the enjoyment of living your days where everything is the same day in, day out. Where nothing is ever unexpected and surprises are actually irritating as opposed to interesting. Even the bad stuff manages to spice things up a bit.
Naturally, a specific example has prompted my thoughts down this line. The step bastard sticks his life to a routineand I've decided that this is the reason he is such a dreary little bore.
His routine is like so:
7am: get up
7.15am: (not a minute before or after mind you) Brush teeth
7.30am: go to work
2pm: return from work. Open mail.
2.15pm: do some gardening
3.15pm: Social time. 15 minutes recreation
3.30pm: Make sandwiches for work the next day
4pm: (yes the sandwiches DO take half an hour!) Wipe down benches
4.15pm: Ensure kitchen area is tidy. Enlist assistance of a sweeping brush if required
4.30pm: Water the plants
5pm: bath time
5.30pm: Dinner time
6pm: Watch the news
7pm: Television time. A time also reserved for throwing back copious amounts of beer
10pm bedtime
Weekends only have a couple of differences. Work is replaced by more time to throw back lager. Add at the end of routine, a violent argument, just to spice things up..
Well it is the weekend you know.
I couldn;t live my life to a schedule. It would suck all the fun out of life. I say, live for the moment, expect the unexpected and just go with the flow.
Because nothing brands you a target for fate to screw you over as much as forward planning

Chicken!
I am unaware of what these sessions entail and didn't relish the prospect of discussing personal things. On top of this, there were some bad things I'm not sure I particularly want to delve into right now.
So, coward that I am, I used a trip to a friend's house to avoid this and cancelled the appointment, as I was nervous about it.
Yes, it might be further denial. And yes, I certainly don't feel good or brave about it.
But then again, it is a bit of a relief that I'm not there now.
I will go to the next one! I just need a good kick up the arse and a courage transplant.

My latest alter ego...
Don't worry, I'm not going schizophrenic on you all.
The character synopsis above refers to the latest part I will play on stage.
I have been cast as Judge Turpin in Sweeney Todd: The Musical, a part famed for nude self bondage, bringing himself to orgasm on stage and rape.
I can't wait...*gulp*
Not impressed.
This required me to take a week off of school, and, after several phone calls from them, during each of which they were assured that my reason for abscence was genuine, they proceeded to accuse me of truanting on my return. The attendance officer suggested I speak to the head of year to clear my name.
But, I'm sorry, why do I even have to clear my name. As someone who regularly attends and puts effort into school and has done for a decade, I expected to have been believed. It is not an unnatural occurance for someone to be ill. It happens. Half the staff at that school are on sick leave for over a year at some point in their career. Many students in my year blatantly take time off to socialise, go shopping and attend concerts etc, yet I am pulled up when I have the ordasity to be unwell.
I swear, if my head of year gives me grief tomorrow when I go to see him, I'm jacking the hole lot of it in and leaving that school. Because I seriously don't know why I should bother.

'Me and my life' Meme
What was the last song you listened to? What effect did it have on you? Did it remind you of anything?
It was Paranoid Android by the rock band Radiohead. It's an emotive and rather depressing song which fitted the mood I was in. It is passionate and reminded me first and foremost of what was already on my mind...and also of times spent with my dad just after my parents marriage broke down and he took me to a Radiohead concert in Glasgow.
Are you employed? What is your role in your job and do you enjoy it? Relate a memorable experience from your work.
I work in the customer service department of a retail store and overlook the running of the department and the checkouts, mostly at weekends. I have to deal with the dribs and drabs of the community who come in their quantities with inane questions, complaints and demands. Oh, and rarely, we do get a pleasant person to serve as well. I can't really relate a particular experience because, as most will probably tell you, I have one of the world's worst memories. But there have been some big funnies with both colleagues and customers! Do I enjoy it? It's not bad, as a job goes at this age and it demands quite a big deal of responsibility. But it's not where my future lies.
Did you have a happy childhood?
Mostly, yes. Obviously the divorce of my parents was a crushing blow but it became my belief and remains so still that it was for the best in the long run. The arrival of a stepdad on the scene who was less than pleasant didn't do much and I was a shy kid at school so it wasn't until middle school when I actually made friends. There were some good happy times though and, in comparison to many childhoods, I am very lucky.
What are your favourite TV shows?
Bad Girls is great, nail biting and rather trashy. it's a great drama and I find myself addicted every year. And Family Guy never fails to make me howl with laughter. Those two aside, I don't really catch much TV.
They say that in life, you will only ever have a handful of people you could class as true friends...and you will be able to count them on one hand. Who are five people you would class as friends? Briefly describe them.
D has been my friend for a long time. We must have come from the same pod at some point as we have the same sense of humour and often finish eachothers sentence or say the same thing at the same time. Like me, he is completely off his rocker, though he controls it a lot less than I do. he is one of the funniest people I have ever met, and he is a good friend.
M has emerged as a really close friend in the space of a few weeks. He has been there through a particularly rough patch and he is incredibly easy to talk to. He is outgoing and good fun to be with, but I know when there's something preying on my mind that I will be able to have a serious conversation with and hope he feels the same vice versa.
J may have abandoned me but she is a great chuckle and a fabulous chick to be around! She made those drab work weekends a lot brighter and I know that while she may not be as close geographically anymore that we won't lose touch and she is someone I feel I can talk to. She's had a rough ride and I respect her for still being on top (don't take any innuendos from that!)
I have never met A but, speaking to her both online and via the telephone, I have found that she will pull me out of many a dark hole I'm in. Not only that, but she is totally crazy and funny with it
And J and I are almost kindred spirits. She has the same passions I do and the same interests and she is side splittingly funny, and I do love her very much! Yet again I have never met her but sincerely hope I do one day as she is one in a million!
Now I know that this question says 5, but I must add H to this list for being such a sweetie all the time! She's a great laugh and also the star of my drama class. When I'm not laughing at the fact we're forever insulting eachother, I can talk to her as a genuine friend and appreciate that she is a fantastic person.
Do you have any siblings? Describe them briefly. Do you get on?
I have one brother who I couldn't possibly be closer to. He's a funny guy and our fallouts are becoming rarer as time passes by. In the past we have had major fights but they wouldnt have been so emotionally and physically draining if we didn't care. He is always there to turn to, without exception and he is the member of my family who I am closest to.
What is your hobby?
My hobby is also my passion...I love to act!
What is your all time favourite book?
Oh wow, that is such a difficult question. I really don't know. And I feel bad because I haven't read anything in leisure in such a long time.
When is your normal bedtime?
Later than it should be!
Describe your first love
She was very special and I won't forget her. It all got a bit messy (keen readers may remember a post which discussed this a few months back!) and it took me some time to adjust to life without her. But it all happened for the best, everything is okay, we are good friends now, no hard feelings!
What are your plans for tomorrow?
A very unappealing day of school then work...
What was the last fun thing you did?
Firday and Saturday were good days, Friday was particularly special if you read HERE. And on Saturday I went out with friends and got a little bit...jolly! After quite a rough couple of weeks it was good to let my hair down and be able to smile again. Friday and Saturday did that for me.
Is there a special someone right now? Describe him/her. What is special about them?
There is someone very special right now who is on my mind a lot. She is rather small, which is cute and has the most gorgeous of eyes. She can be quite loud and and is very very funny. We have become increasingly close over a few months and are getting closer, in my view. She's genuine, kind, selfless and beautiful...I'm a very lucky guy!
Finally, describe yourself in five words
Crazy, honest, sensitive, cuddly, strange
I won't tag anyone as this takes quite a while to fill out! But it's here should anyone be experiencing blogger's block in the future!

Oh, the nerve!
Her method, quite simply, is to pick her desired item, find a cheaper priced item and take the label from it, to put it over the more expensive ones.
She is a regular shopper and even uses her toddler son as a lookout for employees. The whole workforce are now wise to her and she made another such attempt at thievery this afternoon. An item that normally costs 14.99 came through the till at 2.99. I had prewarned the staff in the department that she was in the area so the cashier queried it with me and, right enough, I saw the label did not have the name of the same product on it. The woman quickly tore off the label with a feeble 'oops' and while I went to check the price, she complained that she had to get away to her father's in a hurry.
She was forced to pay full price for the item so as not to expose herself.
Methinks she might not be so eager to try it next time.

Prom night
It's a culmination of a life you have been used to since you can remember...the necessity that you go to school, attend four or five lessons each weekday and see your group of friends for social breaktimes. Now, all of a sudden, your life and where it goes from here is in your own hands and some decisions for the future have to be made. It's by this time that you need some form of vision for where you want to be and where you want your life go.
But hey, before that it's party time. Perhaps why this night is so important in every youth's life (admittedly more particularly in girls who feel pampered and special with the opportunity to pull out all the stops to looks stunning and feel like a princess)
Well, this was what was in my head this time last year as my prom approached. My friends planned to attend, my girlfriend of the time was going to be my date and it was going to be a lot of fun. But work soon put paid to that and because of a colleagues holiday, I was unable to get the night off. I have never pulled a dishonest sickie in my life and don't think I ever shall...but never was I more tempted than night.
However, I went without my prom and that was that. opportunity missed.
In recent months...(it feels like a lifetime, actually) I have become increasingly close to a 'special someone' who just so happens to be a year younger than I am. The path of true romance never does run smoothly and I don't think anyone can appreciate this quite so much as me and her (who I shall call J for the purpose of this post). Four months on, and a lot has happened. But, while I won't go into detail with that, she did invite me as her date to her prom. And last night, I was all dressed up in an incredibly uncomfortable dinner suit and heading with a stunning J by my side to a posh hotel...in a zebra colour 'wildlife' minibus!
The dignified event gave everyone the opportunity to scrub up well, and everyone who I know certainly made a good job of that. I am certainly glad that my 'prom experience' occured a year later as I'm sure I enjoyed it a lot more than I would have a year ago, mainly due to the company I was in.
Now, I know I still have two promises of photos to uphold of my fancy dress day and my holiday but I'm adding another promise to the list that, yes, prom pictures are on their way to 'The Diary Of mr Slug Take two' So, try and contain your excitement and they'll be here as soon as possible.
In the meantime, I hope everyone who reads this who shared in a fab night out with me last night had as good a time as I did.
And particular notes and mentions to J, who knows how special she is to me.

Back in Business
In a week where my state of emotions have fallen below the line of 'just not good' I have been faced once again with the very same decision I thought I had finalised a few weeks ago.
What this involved was abandoning my current lifestyle for an undetermined (potentially 3 to 4 months) for the sake of someone else.
I refuse to name my friend, nor the location or the cicumstances as to why the friend needed me to join them there for a long period of time, but, as it stood, I had decided that, yes, it would be necessary and acceptable to take a few months out from waht I was doing, to go to this location.
This would require me either to drop out of my last year of education (possibly temporarily) or ask about being able to catch up, sadly the first of which seemed most tempting to me. Also I would be left without a job, even though I had planned to ask for a temporary transfer to this location, I severely doubted that management would stretch to achieve this for me.
Neither of these were particularly worrying to me. The situation I was sacrificing them for far outweighed them in significance and overall importance.
So, I had my decision made and the weeks leading to the temporary relocation became days and I was forced to reconsider, in particular concerning one particular person that I would risk losing and hurting through it.
The choice, under pressure, was not a pleasant one to make, as someone would be losing out. But, I had to think logically and also was made, by two close friends who know who they are, that I can't afford, nor should I feel the need, to put my life on hold, and someone else's for that matter.
I'd like to give special thanks to Abbi as well, who was there for me a lot in the most stressful part of this decision and consequently the guilt stigmatised to it in the wake of my choice.
What have I learned from it? You can't keep everyone happy any of the time and it doesn't hurt to think of oneself once in a while.

After a complicated birth, a healthy young girl finally emerged, albeit a little too light.

A tentative step
Whether or not therapy will do any good, I don't know. But I suppose it is worth a try, depsite my copious amount of misgivings.
It would be an understatement to claim that i'm a tad nervous about delving deep into stuff I don't want to talk about and open up my psychology bare to a stranger.
But, if I can walk out any time I want to, there's a slight comfort in the fact that it isn't compulsory.

Err sorry but why should I?
It comes to her turn after queueing and I greet her in a pleasant manner(of course!) Face like thunder...which has struck Medusa and flown backwards through a bush in fright, she dumps a tin of varnish on the desk, without so much as a word.
I, rather stupidly, presume that she intends to purchase the item, as my powers of mind reading had crashed at this point in the day. As i move to scan it, she pulls it out of the way and demands what I am doing, in a frustrated tone.
Left speechless at having my head ripped off, I say nothing and she offers elaboration in the form of: 'I bought the wrong one, didn't I?'
Oh, of course you did. How stupid of me. I should have known, having watched you get served and followed the continuation of your life right up until the point you realised it was the wrong shade.
By this time, a rather spacious friend who resembled a bulldog not just chewing a wasp, but eating a hive of killer bees with vinegar, had joined her.
I am telling the orignal 'lady' to go and fetch the one she wants so I can do an exchange.
She turns to Rex and says:'Oh so I have to bloody go and get it myself as well as if this wasn't complicated enough.'
Ahem. Sorry, was it me who was dumb enough to come in and choose the wrong tin? Why should it be my job to run after you just because you make mistakes. Like i haven't got a million better things to be doing for better people. And if that is her idea of complexity, presenting a receipt and fetching a tin with the same words as a piece of paper she's holding on the front of it, then she needs to get out more.
Bearing in mind that the varnish aisle is adjacent to the service desk and barely a metre or two away (i could see the tins from where I was standing), I offered to call over a colleague when she stormed off.
By this time she was already up the aisle but Rex says: 'Yes that would be better'
I reasonably said that it doesn't matter now as she was already there. But no, I am once again mistaken.
Rex proceeds to get out her phone and call her friend! I watch, forwning as she says down the end of her phone: 'They're going to get one of their staff to get it'
The woman then emerges from the aisle, bereft of a tin of varnish and arrives back at the desk, offering a hard look. 'Well, where are they then?'
I explain that I haven't yet called anyone and call 'any available assistant' over the tannoy, as if I asked someone specific to help this customer they would have surely presumed I held a grudge.
A member of staff arrives fifteen seconds later and jovially asks how he can help.
'I want a tin of varnish' Helpful.
'Not aproblem. What kind?'
'Ronseal.'
'Okay, that's fine. What colour do you need?'
*looks at Rex* 'Christ sake what is it, twenty f**king questions!? Redwood (or whatever it was!)'
*less jovially than before* Okay I'll see what I can do.
Cue muttering of 'it's not rocket science' between the two women.
By this time a queue had built up and my pathetic excuse of a colleague was too busy talking to someone else and writing a shopping list, so I asked the next person if they wanted help. As this much more pleasant lady began her enquiry, The ROnseal lady butts in saying:'excuse me, you're meant to be serving me'
I offered a curt:'You're being served' but she wasn't having it. But she didn't turn on me. no, she had a go at the customer. 'Wait your turn!'
Before the situation had a chance to escalate, my other colleague returned with the tin and, after checking and double checking and examining with forensics and triple checking that he'd picked up the right one, the transaction completed and they went on their way.
And I hope never to see them again. I won't hold my breath though as the awkward ones are also most common ones.
Such is the world of customer service.

All as bad as eachother!
In the english, it brings out exaggerated, hypocritical senses of country pride which are non existant for the other three years and eleven months. It also brings out a competitve streak and the chance to stick the tongue out to Scotland who rarely qualify and allow abuse to fall at the doors of countries such as Germany and France.
Apparantely, being English comes hand in hand with despising every resident in countires we once had a war with. Which, to be fair, should mean that we hate 75% of the world's population.
It really is quite sad that such high levels of racism and bitterness between countries fighting to be the most patriotic should arise over a game of football. The world cup is like a non fatal world war. Countires on the defensive from eachother and on the offensive towards eachother.
And it isn't just England (and those insufferably tacky flags) that are to blame. I have no doubt that other countires who qualify are equally up their own arses.
But Scotland is just as pathetic by refusing to support England and consequently deciding to support any team they come up against, just to spite it.
The childish hate between some english people and some scottish people, based purely on their country is really irritating, and the world cup is not actually about a game of football, but about beating every other country then rubbing it in their faces with insulting words such as 'scotchies' and 'frogs' It's funny how in football, you can be as racist and discriminatory as you like!
The lengths people go to in terms of reactions to a bloody game of football are horrendous and embarassing.
I am half scottish and half english.
During times like the world cup, I am ashamed to admit either.
Grow up for god's sake!

The step-bastard
And I must say, after trying for eight long years to maturely accept the new person that gatecrashed my new life, I can finally deem it failed. Everyone who knows me on any personal degree will also be aware of my feelings towards my mum's chosen suitor (I use this word in it's broadest terms)
I have tried extremely hard to get to know the oaf and to get along (and I'll be the first to admit that I'm not necessarily the easiest person to get along with) but it's just not happened. Whether it's my fault or more to do with the fact that he's a thick, immature, abusive, pathetic, tempermental control freak Im not quite sure but whatever it is, I have officially given up making that extra effort for my mum's benefit.
She has made her choice and that choice is for her, but I'm damned if I have to be forced to be happy with it as well.
Especially when she's not happy herself.

woops...
Well, embarassingly, it seems it was actually a prank which I fell for hook line and sinker, with the trailer merely being a spoof compiling Leonardo di Caprio film clips together. Just goes to show what a wild fan of leo's I am!
I still stand by my comments on Hollywood, but admit that this example case scenario is irrelevant and somewhat defunct in relation to my opinion.
D'oh!

What's done is done
I've practically had to make a horrible and life changing decision which has plagued my mind for months and left me in quite a confused state.
I finally found my answer yesterday and am now coming round to accepting that I can't plkease everyone.
What I've decided will have countless effects on other lives...and I may end up losing a few people I deem close to my heart through it. But what I've done will inevitable right in the long, so I hope those of you who will feel let down and angry at me will, in time, start to understand that.
I'd like to make thanks to those people who have listened to me over the past few months but particularly to two people, who I won't name here but who most certainly know who they are, who have been essential rocks for me.
From the bottom of my heart and with all the gratitude I have in me and more, i thank you both.
And sorry...

Phew...
Not that I've had much time to focus on the ailments. Seven hours worth of examinations on Friday. While the questions were suitably decent, the toll of writing solidly, without more than a ten minute break and foodless began to weigh heavily. At four o clock, I then had to dash to a harsh shift at work which wouldn;t end til half ten.
Bah!
Never mind...holidays tomorrow. I escape to Turkey with the family and step bastard for a week.
But there will be some form of ramblings here, courtesy of Jo.
Just so you don't miss me TOO much ;)

Big load of bull!
And sitting there, I only became further baffled at how people can derive 'entertainment' out of a blatant and cruel bullying campaign that will no doubt have encouraged the 95% of BB viewers who are schoolchildren to unleash similar torrents of abuse on fellow classmates because it's 'amusing'
Not only that, I was cringing with discomfort at the thought of several million people sitting in front of their televisions watching two de-clothed individuals wrapped round eachother, whispering and kissing in what anywhere else would be a very private moment...for a prolonged amount of time.
What a load of trash!

Hmm!
I am: still hoping for a solution
I want: everything to work out
I wish: that I wasn't so ill all of the time
I hate: Discrimination of any kind
I miss: Simplicity and the sensation of relaxation
I fear: Losing someone special
I hear: a noisy rabble of my brother's friends downstairs!
I wonder: what's going to happen next!
I regret: Not doing enough to stop certain things from happeneing.
I am not: likely to be an electrician
I dance: at gunpoint...badly
I sing in the shower:...NOT!
I cry: when crying helps. And sometimes when it doesn't
I am not always: on the ball!
I make with my hands: love, happiness and cake!
I write: so much that my hand is prone to cramp!
I confuse: the living daylights out of people with strange and erratic behaviour...and love it!
I need: Peace of mind. Even if only for a day
I should: Be revising right now
I start: things that I know I can't finish
I finish: only when I'm dead! Whenever that may be!
I'm TAGGING: Alice; Hursty and Abbi
Oh boy.
It tells of how, across 150 schools in England, nervous students sat down to the first of the most important school exams they will ever face. These aren't mocks, nor are they pointless SATs, these are GCSEs, the results of which will decide the next few steps in their futures.
As they sat down to their exam, they were posed questions which referred to charts and graphs which were apparentley supposed to be in a source booklet accompanying the paper.
One flaw of this was that this source booklet was absent.
So cue copious amounts of 'quiet as you can' panicking as the time ticked along and thousands of students realised there was no way they could answer half of the questions in the paper. By the end of the alloted time, many were in tears.
Now this is a good start to the month of exams that await them. A real confidence booster if ever I saw it. AQA, who are in charge of this particular exam, said that students were not to worry as the fact they had no sources would be taken into consideration. Meaning what exactly? The markers will be a bit more leniant. It's unfair to mark them at all. It would also be unfair to make them resit it. This was a botch up of the exam board and no amount of formal apologies and assurances not to worry will make it right.
Their advice to relax and concentrateon the rest of their exams will be a harder feat to overcome thanh they make out. Imagine the impression these students will have on the exams after their experiences with their very first.
GCSEs are (pointlessly) terrifying enough as it is, without knocking students' confidence to this extent.

Bravo...
Young child (about 5 years old): mummy, can I have another bag of crisps?
'Mummy': Can you F*** you greedy little c***
...with this as a mother, I can only sympathise with the child and the poor influences that will shape her personality into something as hideous.

The curse of temptation
More often than not, temptation refers to the urge to do something we know we probably shouldn't. or at least something we have to consider.
If this isn't the case, then temptation is bypassed when taking the action and deciding to go for it.
So I think it's safe to say that temptation can be linked to an equally common phase of dilemma.
If you're a glass half full kind of person, then dilemmas can be seen as life enhancers. They add a little bit of excitement, allow you your independance in the crossroads you face and get you thinking the inevitable question of what if...?
When faced with a great dilemma it is necessary to weigh up the options of each decision. The decision we are most tempted towards can be two things. Either the safe option...or the dangerous option. We would take the safe option for the easier life. To cause the least ripples or to cower out of something. The dangerous option would be taken for that little bit of excitement. morals are sometimes thrown out of the window in this case and it is likely to be connected with a 'live for the moment' kind of decision. The thing about a dilemma is that it is hard to decide. If there was one right answer and one wrong answer then it'd be easy. But both the safe option and the dangerous option can have perilous results. I guess I'm trying to say you're f**ked whatever you do!
Temptation is a message from our hearts. Logic is a message from our brains. Wherever possible, both should be combined for the optimum decision to keep everything smooth. But life rarely works like that. A temptation will no doubt lead to some degree of trouble, whether it be your personal disappointment that this temptation is out of bounds, or that the temptation is making you look at your current situation in a different light or perhaps that you've given in to temptation and realised that it was the wrong decision.
Our brains were made for decision making. The complicated thing is that our heart's fog what our brain is reasonably trying to tell us.
Temptation can be the fun option and also the better option. You can look back after taking the plunge and think 'yeah that was the right thing to do'
But, it's reasonable to say that it can work the opposite way and you can soon be telling yourself that you really botched things up there.
naturally, the outcome of the temptation and the subsequent decision depends heavily on the scale and circumstances of the situation.
Very rarely is there a straight forward solution. As soon as we stop searching for the impossible and keeping everyone happy, that's when we can start making those decisions based on our own gut feelings.
Hey, we all make mistakes. But we might as well have fun and learn something when doing so!

Education
Yes, exam season is upon us once again. And once again, it has prompted irritable thoughts from myself on the state of the country's education system. When once education was devoted to the discovery and execution of new knowledge, it is now a restricted palavar of spoon feeding and information overload matched perfectly to examination guidelines.
The only things we get to learn about in school is what goes on the blank lines in exam papers. No world is more contrived than the current school system, and now there is just a blatant competition for the highest examination results. No lessons in how to use the skills required for the exam in a real life situation, no example scenarios in how maths and english are actually useful and certainly no activities which contain any amount of originality.
School is just a year by year preparation for a period of exams. Once those exams are out of the way, then there are more to get working for.
The whole idea of education should be to teach children and young adults new skills and to develop their intellect and use their own minds. But I've lost count of the amount of times I have copied out of a textbook, word for word, information that I merely need to regurgitate onto a different sheet of paper in quieter conditions. Half of the battle is the memory test. If you have a memory, then you're likely to pass.
The only thing impressive about having a heap of GCSEs or A-Levels is the fact that you have managed to survive years of boredom to reach the exams.
I'm not saying that the exams are particulalry easy...nor are they stress free. However, the whole heart and overall point of education has got lost somewhere to be replaced by a governmental grasp for statistics.
Thus making students feel like mindless robots rather than individuals trying to gain personal achievements

Is it logical...
*sigh* Some of the people I know...
The perils of online dating!
You know the sites I refer to. Whether or not you've visited them at your lowest ebb in desperation for any form of solid partnership, or through casual curiosity or whatever, everyone is aware of them due to popups and website advertising.
It has always been a guideline for safe internet usage that not everyone is who they say they are. Well, my friend, who I shall call G for the purpose of this story, got a membership to one of these agencies and was soon chatting to several females. One such female caught his eye and boasted a profile picture of a slim, sexy blonde. Private chat sessions ensued and soon the pair were getting on like a house on fire.
After a few weeks of online chat and phone calls, G turned the subject round to a physical meeting. D (for date) regulalrly put this off until backed into a corner so a meet-up was arranged. G waited like a lemon for his date to turn up and, when it became clear he'd been stood up, he marched home to his computer and confronted her. She admitted that she wasn't all that she seemed so this prompted G to jump into his car and drive to his address. Arriving at the house, he saw a...rather large, silhouette against the closed curtained window. Gulping down his nerves at this twist, he knocked on the door and was met with a woman quite different to the picture she posted. Nevertheless, after the awkwardness of her lies subsided, he decided to take her out for a drink anyway but became nervous when she kept buying him doubles. Catching the eye of someone else in the bar, he managed to slip over and speak to her. She asked if he was seeing D and he said no. When he went to the toilet and returned however, it became interested who this new person was really interested in. She had her tongue shoved down D's throat.
G's surprises were not yet over though. When they came up for air, they noitced him and asked him quite a blatant question. 'Fancy a threesome?'
G felt it was time to back away from the situation, made his excuses, before realising he was too drunk to operate a vehicle, especially as several inches of snow had since fallen. Realising he was going to be forced to stay at D's he walked home with her, desperate to keep his senses alert. After refusing three subsequent offers to share her bed, he manaaged to fall asleep on the settee and woke at 4am. Snow cleared and feeling more sober, he tried to sneak out of the house, only to be met with pounding footsteps down the stairs and a chokeslam against the wall.
What took place in the next hour, my friend didn't go into detail but he did eventually emerge, after many pants of 'don't leave me' from D, a black eye and the realisation that she had made a voodoo doll of him in the night!
So I think I know one person at least who won't be tempted by the popups!

youve court to be kidding!
Plonking his mits on a powertool, he bypassed the checkouts in the store I work and made for the exit but, before long, two colleagues were in close pursuit. While the police were kept up to date, the dimwit was eventually tracked down and, various 'not guilty' pleas, identity parades and small hearings later, the case came to court.
A friend of mine who gave chase to this lowlife, was also expected to attend, as a witness. Bearing in mind she has heard little from the authorities concerned and when she has it has involved threats of her arrest when the last date clashed with her holiday, it's fair to say she's been mucked around a bit.
So here we were, sitting in a cardboard sized waiting room, her attempting to look her dignified best in a dress suit whilst tugging at her socks, battling with a regularly self unfixing button accessory on her skirt and burping, plonked in wait of some progress.
And wait we did. It was soon that we were reduced to digging through handbags for scraps of chocolate and flicking through 3 year old magazines in desperate hope of an entertaining problem page (you know the ones...'I've fallen in love with my husband's murderer but a genie brought my husband back to life so I'm in a dilemma...I asked my cousin for advice and ended up in a threesome with him and his friend, who gives my son drugs in return for a hand job')
Eventually, an official looking woman wandered in and eventually, after significant amounts of faffing and destruction of her official look by pulling coffee and milk out of her briefcase, revealed herself as a witness advisory type person, who had travelled a distance to be here. After a copious amount of fondling with a television which had no aerial in the vain hope of getting a picture (why I don't know because we had already done the waiting thing...or so we thought) , she got down to business and went through the rigmoral of telling my friend what she could expect to happen in the witness box.
Next, we were visited by a police officer with eyes wider than Jade Goody's gob, and he informed us that the other colleague who was down to witness had fallen ill...and his evidence was valued. By the time the prosecution had had their say to my friend, it became obvious that the defendant was still yet to turn up. Predictably, he had pulled a 'no show' act, thus sending the case into an adjournment status. Once discussions for re-sheduling were underway, the lad turned up, an hour late, protesting that his taxi was late and walked smack bang into my friend who was due to give evidence against him.
Apparantely, because the adjournment had already been decided, it was irreversible. So, right in front of the thief, the next case was put down for a month's time, despite the fact that the magistrates couldn't possibly have had time to vacate the building.
The day couldn't have been more farcical if it tried.
Well that's a lie, the shopkeeper could have refused to give us change for the parking meter. Thank god SOME problems are simple to overcome!
Read a more entertaining account of this very same debacle HERE
well thank gawd for that!
I was on the brink of considering the purchase of a new phone online when I heard it vibrate on my windowsill and spring back into life
That's a relief!

Fletch, I share in your pain...
It's drying off at the moment, and currently not working...BAH!
Fair?
In a nutshell, the story is that of an 11 year old girl becoming pregnant with the help of a 15 year old friend at a drunken party.
Details of the story suggests that this child has had a very poor upbringing. The fact that her mother would allow her daughter to become the focus of such media frenzy says a lot in itself. The girl is a regular drinker, and a chain smoker and it is pain stakingly obvious that she has no foundations in life. Her mother claims to be 'very proud' of her daughter and her imminent pregnancy, which is 'exciting' the expectant mother to be. The whole set up is quite disturbing. Something has gone sadly wrong in this family unit and, as an outsider who only knows the bare facts, my blame will have to fall mostly into the mother's lap. While most parents would shield both their child and themselves from exposure over a tender situation like this, this dozy mare is parading her daughter around like a celebrity and as if childhood pregnancy is a great achievement.
But the most startling behaviour is not the mother's neglect of parenting basics that would be obvious to a blind chipmunk. No, I was more confused by the treatment of the lad who got her up the duff in the first place. Yes, it was a stupid thing to do. But, this guy is being charged for statutory rape. Now, I urge you to correct me if I'm mistaken, but the term rape, I always thought, referred to non-consensual sex. This girl was clearly up for it and obviously has no regrets. both were drunk and it takes two to tango as the cliched proverb goes. And the fact that the girl is happy and excited at the prospect of motherhood shows that she can't be scarred by the events, instead suggesting quite the contrary. She is also granting the boy full rights to the child...this was not a rape. The main argument is that he is significantly older than her and yes, we are all aware that there is a law over sex with minors. But he is a minor as well. This judgement and subsequent punishment is yet to be justified in my eyes. If anyone can shed any light on reasoning surrounding this boy's rape charge, I'd be most interested to hear it!
This is really boring but what the hey...

Fancy Dress
My school year are running a fancy dress day to raise money for Cancer research, something close to my own heart and those of many others.
Well, stuck for cash and also lacking in imagination, I didn't have a clue who to go in as! Bear in mind we are also restricted to film characters! Who would you go as!?
As it's ended up, I have pur-chased a heap of random items...blonde plaits, a pink bowler hat, a cowboy badge, a bandit's eye mask and an owl mask and just plan to go in as a...for want of a better word...weirdo!
Considering i spend much of my life being weird, it's easy, perfect and plus it'll stand out!
And there's nothing better than getting one of those 'oh my good god, what the hell' looks!
;)
...wish me luck though...I might get beaten up!

I'm sick of this shit.

I have said...
I feel it necessary, in the wake of quite an uplifting day, to apologise and thank those who put up with me!
~~
A case of chinese whispers has gone seriously wrong between a few people I know recently. Whether or not bits are added to allow the information giver to feel more important to the situation, or if they're added to make the gossip all the more juicier or even if it's just an accident, I don't quite know.
But when something happens and it gets back to someone after being filtered through the lives of several others, it will always be more exaggerrated than when it first kicked off.
Hence I'm left with a heinous amount of pieces to pick up after two people who have been left feeling betrayed and mortified by eachother.
I don't understand the process of talking negatively about people behind their backs. It always...without a shadow of a lingering doubt, ends up causing more hurt and aggrivation than if it was just said to the person's face.
There's no animal that loves a bit of intrigue more than us pathetic humans and many will latch onto any piece of bitching they can find.
The conclusion: Don't be two faced :)

And so it's left to this...
It seemed so plastic to reduce her life and achievements to a few items in torn boxes. Going through photos, tapes, CDs, books, ornaments and letters, I gradually managed to build up a brave, kind, loveable person with not a selfish bone in her body.
J.D. I hope this goes as qucikly and as painlessly as it possibly can for you.
How contrived...
The original motion picture was a poor enough representation of true events but watch the trailer that I have linked for it's sequel and yet another poignant historic event has been commercialsed beyond belief and presented as trash.
Unbelievable.

And congratulations...
Well done!! I'm sure you'll enjoy the experience as much as I did!
What a weight off my shoulders...
I'm at the point where I don't care what it's like or how good it is, so long as it is out of the way!
Maybe not the attitude to have but hey.

And when the juggling becomes too much...
At the end of a week of such poignant ups and downs, I feel mentally and physically exhausted. A chain of events, mostly unrelated have peaked and dipped my 'world' if you like in the past couple of weeks orso but headway has been made and the dark cloud could be about to be pierced. I don't want to dig my own grave by saying that, but at least now I can see how things could perhaps, maybe just, be resolved.
Schoolwork has been up at the top of my list of minor stresses in the last week. Education could perhaps do with a bit of shaking to at least ensure all deadlines don't fall on the same day. As it stood, my deadlines for four pieces of project work landed on Friday and the days leading up to it were certainly headbanging! This was a very inopportune time for school to start wailing for attention and part of me regrets the fact that in my desperation to get everything in on time, the quality of my work may have suffered.
Speaking of work, it's been unhelpful to only have a single day off this week, and the same next week. It's becoming the only reason to look forward to Thursdays not to have to step into that place.
These two distractions have served to do one thing however, and take my mind off of things spinning around my head at the moment, one of which being the slow and reluctant realisation that I'm more unwell than I care to admit.
I can't and nor do I want to, divulge details about what's going on, but I felt fit to leave some form of update to show that there is light at the end of the tunnel and also to thank those who have been a constant support.
You know who you are.
Fingers crossed for a fresh, happy week!

Getting a bit boring now...
When I say 'seems like' I mean that the symptoms are as apparent as ever. Incessant spells of vomiting, banging headache, aching muscles, shivers and hot sweats and stomach cramps all combine to make a rather unpleasant day.
Bah!
I must admit I'm getting rather fatigued with all this illness
But, yes, short post today...I can't be bothered if I'm honest!
Which I always am :)
The Fruit Bowl Tribute: Akranya
Akranya made her first appearance in Issue 101 with the rest of her family and has been a central chaarcter since.
She put many noses out of joint with her rowdy behaviour and ended up on the wrong side of several residents.
Her darkest moment was when she was forced to put her erratic daughter out of her misery during a showdown at the doctor's surgery.Tragedy befell Akranya at a later date when she lost her bullboy son Mellot when he was killed whilst robbing a house.
Akranya's past was explored when her sister Callie was released from jail and it emerged she had actually covered for a crime Akranya commited. the subsequent showdown led Akranya's husband Charles into Callie's arms and Akranya into the depths of despair.
Unable to cope with her life as it stood, Akranya made her final appearance when taking a fatal overdose
Any comments regarding the times of Akranya or her tearjerking exit can be directed to the usual e-mail address: wallomrslug@yahoo.com
As always, the best responses will be shown in future editions of The Fruit Bowl

ABC Meme
Accent – WELL, this is a long running debate between myself and a few people. I am of the firm belief that I have no particular accent, and if i am it is pretty weak. But others reckon I have a Scottish accent. A twang maybe but I find the accent classification a bit exaggerrated. Although friends from london do say it's quite strong...
Booze of choice – I like the odd tipple on occasion although don't have many major preferences. Depends on the mood!
Chore I hate – Washing dishes! yeuch! Especially other people's! People who have been eating a food I don't like! Gah! Nothing is more vile than having to scrub hardened food off of cutlery that has been in someone's mouth and in a plate of food.
Dog or Cat – Cat! I miss my Rory and Sukie!
Essential electronics – Computer, phone, memory stick. Everytime I misplace one of these I take a panic. Although it IS somewhat difficult to misplace a computer, I'll admit.
Favorite perfume - Don't do perfume but aftershaves at the moment are Deisel. My preference changes though, I'm an awkward bugger
Gold or Silver? I don't care, to be honest!
Hometown – Scotland! Not a town I know, but I could class myself as having three different hometowns. I was moved around a bit as a nipper
Insomnia? – Ummm no...
Job Title – I'm not sure what my job title is these days...general dogsbody i think would sum it up.
Kids? – 2 kids from a previous marriage....for those who don't know me on a personal level, no, not really.
Living Arrangement – With my mummy and brother and bastard face :)
Most-admired trait – I'm told it's my sense of humour. But I don't really have one!
Overnight Hospital Stays – Yes...but I don't want to go into that chapter!
Phobia – Fire is close to being a phobia though I'm not as nervous about it these days
Quote – "What's all the hubbub" I don't do philosophy okay!?
Religion – I don't do religion either.
Siblings – A younger brother. Aggrivating git he is too!
Time I wake up – I'm usually an early riser. 6,7, rarely later than 8 or 9
Unusual talent/skill – I can turn my eyelids inside out but I'd hardly call that a talent
Vegetable I refuse to eat – Celery.
Worst habit – Ummm...talking excessive amounts of crap! Blathering that's the word I'm looking for. i blather. or is it blether...both are acceptable I guess...See what I mean...? ;o)
X-rays – Oh predictable! COme up with a new X! I have had no X-rays, no
Yummy foods I make – I can make cakes and biscuits and scones and stuff! I also make a mean vegetable chilli...VERY spicy.
Zodiac sign – Sagittarius. this week, apparantely, I'm to find true love...AGAIN!
I HATE Thursdays!
So far this morning, I've received news of a good friend who has been rushed to hospital, I've lost my bank card, I've had to step in and comfort a friend who my brother has hurled abuse at and I feel sick, yet again.
I don't know if it's a psychological thing but, ever since I can remember, I have detested Thursdyas with a passion. It may have been only a selection of minor things each time that bothered me and it could also be because I've trained myself to hate Thursdays so I notice the annoying things more because I'm expecting them.
So, yes, today looks like it will be no exception.
I have some written work to get on with, no doubt that will stress me and I also have a very charming late shifyt at work...and I know there's going to be trouble there...
Roll on Friday!

~~SPOILER~~ Ms Poulter to be left fighting for her life! ~~SPOILER~~
Ms Poulter may well have taken a step too far where one villager is concerned. In an dramatic moment, she will be shot by an unidentified assailant, and just about everyone has a motive.
Whether or not Ms Poulter survives the attack remains to be seen, but it's plain that there is going to be a dark summer full of accusation in The Fruit Bowl.
There is also set to be a spooky time later this year, with two familiar faces making returns in time for Halloween.
Notorious villains Dr Cox and Lillie are set to make spine tingling comebacks, despite being killed off over a year ago.
The circumstances surrounding their reappearances are yet to be revealed, but it's fair to say there will be some creepy goings on come October 31st!
Dr Cox became The Fruit Bowl's most infamous villain when he began leading a double life as a local lovelorn medic and a serial killer. During his reign, he bumped off six mainstream characters, including foul mouthed Jeannie and long suffering Poppy.
Lillie meanwhile, was at the centre of one of the Fruit Bowl's most popular storylines when she led a heartbreaking bullying campaign against Sarah. She later took control of the village and led a destructive revenge campaign that the villagers are unlikely to ever forget.
Both departed the Fruit Bowl back in Season Ten after Dr Cox made a final, ghostly appearance to plague Lillie, who had earlier killed him while Lillie was pushed to her death by Ms poulter in the dramatic 100th issue.
Both have since made fleeting comebacks in the spin off:'Heavenly Cox' which saw them up to their old tricks in the afterlife.
Ms Poulter meanwhile, has been The Fruit Bowl's longest serving villain. Making her first appearance near the beginning of the first season, she made several enemies and caused a deadly explosion to rip through the pub. She is arguably most hated however for her vicious stunt that broke up the marriage of popular couple Paula and Mr Stanton.
The Fruit Bowl Season 15

Season Fifteen, Issue One is now available for sale and contains an exclusive interview with the devilish Ms Poulter.
There are ten issues in Season Fifteen. All are expected to have been released at the latest date of May 30th

Manic Monday
Easter Monday and one of the busiest days of the year for the store I work in. And today didn't disappoint, for want of a better word.
They came in their busloads, filled the aisles, complained their hardest then left.
Due to several rota eff ups, we were left shorter staffed than we had hoped and consequently I was left to man the customer coming to have a go desk alone for the large quantity of my shift.
It didn't help that I had made a grievous error when serving someone that I also had to sort out.
The only thing positive about a day of stress at work is the feeling of arriving home with two days off ahead.
And I plan to enjoy them!

Tis the season to be...overheated...
Aside from the guarantee of a minimum of 6 weeks freedom from school, I, being the pessimist that I am, fail to see the appeal of summer.
In fact, quite the opposite. I can come up with a giant's handful of negative points.
Firstly, there's the heat. An overpowering, headache inducing ball of fire blazing down upon you is not what I would deem relaxing. Being soaked and consequently sticky with sweat and hardly being able to breath for the clamminess of the atmosphere is something I'm not too fond of. I've never been a fan of the heat, I just can't handle it.
Secondly, it makes you feel like a loser to use your computer. It seems to be a general law that everyone should like running onto the beach and getting sand in crevices you never knew you had but i for one am still just as content to use my computer when needs be. problem is in summer, you get the arguments of 'oh it's so nice outside' and therefore, can't even log on for five minutes without being called a killjoy!
Then there are the tourists! Living in a historical AND commercial area does not bode well if you want a quiet and speedy transaction for a loaf of bread or a much needed chilled drink. They are EVERYWHERE. Bumping into you withoout the courtesy of an apology and wearing ridiculous mismatched backwards caps, sunglesses, flowery or dragon covered shirts and shorts which leave bony, hairy, scabby legs to the full view of everyone, they are my least favourite summer species...
...except of course, WASPS! Those evil beings torment you at every twist and turn. Their mere prescence in the corner of a room is enough to drive me to the other end of the house. And, summer being the one season you really NEED ice cream and cold but fruity drinks, it is a tad irritating to have a wasp pestering you whenever you try to sample one of these delights.
Retail becomes busier and more hectic, something which doesn't do much for my job. Pair this with my least favourite type of customer (aside, obviously from the sad, moaning bastards that are quite frequent) and it isn;t a pleasurable result. The customer type I speak of is the nippy purchaser of plants. My heart plummets majorly when I see a customer approach with a trolley full of plants. Bagging them is a nightmare. if you so much as touch a leaf they are in uproar that you may have killed it!
Not only that, there are kids plaguing the neighbourhood, making noise and causing ample amounts of mayhem. Back to shop talk, theres a clique of them to throw out every five minutes!
And as a final comment...where's the SNOW in summer eh?
Bah!
Roll on winter...again!
Hooray!
When you search for mr slug. okay, so maybe not the most common of phrases, but I'm still happy!
Next rung on the ladder...to be on page one with the word 'slug'

Easter Weekend
But, more importantly to some, I suppose it's also a time to remember when some superior being got hacked onto a wooden cross, died, sealed in a cave with a boulder, moved it and returned to prove how great he was.
I, personally, don'tfollow all the religious hoo-hah, I guess I found it hard to swallow since the first paragraph saying God created a planet and all of it's intricate details in a week, the same amount of time I struggle to get one piece of coursework done.
But enough of the blasphemy, I hope everyone has a very pleasant weekend, whatever you're doing!

The bastards are back!
I have just encountered the firts of these things, and I handled the situation in my typical macho-masculine style.
By leaping off my computer chair and taking a generous amount of paces back.
Reasonably, I couldn't sit at my computer, knowing that thing was barely a yard from my face!
Evasive action had to be taken, so I went on the offensive!
Picking up some form of plastic doo-dah, I tip-toed forward (wasps have acute senses you know!) and lashed out before leaping back, in anticipation of a violent reaction.
I had, of course, due to my nervous and somewhat wimp-ish composure, missed the target completely.
And Mr Wasp was not happy!
Buzzing around, searching for the source of it's recent discomfort, it was a wasp on a mission. There was very little I could do except wait patiently...and hope desperately...for it to stop.
It eventually did and I stepped forward for a second attempt. This time I hit the target. I noticed when I shakingly peeled the curtain back, that it wasn't quite dead. I felt it necessary to at least put the bugger out of it's pain, only for it to drop from the window and disappear under the computer table.
Even if it is reasonably out of action, cruel as it is, there is NO WAY that I am crawling under there to put it out of it's misery!

An insight into the female brain...
Emphasised during several situations lately, I must admit that I am as clueless as to what rushes through the mind of a female being as the rest of the male population (and possibly most of the female)
This ignorance can be, at times, very frustrating. Their flustered and often contradictory manners make discussion of a poignant kind slow moving and confusing.
So, I beg the question, anyone who has succeeded in marginally figuring out the psychology of a female, please wing your findings down this end.
Because I would LOVE to know!
A well earned break!
The past few weeks have been full of ups and downs and certainly a huge amount of stress and fatigue has resulted from this.
Thankfully, I have been left with barely any holiday tasks to complete for subjects; something which knocked me with a great sensation of pleasant surprise.
I don't even have too many work shifts so I can use these two weeks for a few simple purposes. namely to relax, slob out, contemplate the copious amounts of 'stuff' rushing through my head and prepare myself for the last hurdle of the school year, namely the exams.
When I say PREPARE, I do not mean revise. I mean chill out so I am ready to revise when I get back!
For me, holidays and revision do not mix!
When I'm not at school, I don't DO school. Period.

I'm not dead so don't panic/celebrate!
I'm still around though, I haven't disappeared off of the face of the planet or anything like that.
Normal service will resume as soon as it is possible!

Day Five
This day heralded our two biggest audiences and consequently our two best perfromances. Firstly we put on the show for the middle school children.
But the evening finale was by far the highest point. There was a great audience, a great atmosphere and a great energy and we pulled off a masterpiece.
I even got a gaggle of young fans outside...well first taste of fame and all that jazz.
I think after all the work, we deserved the cherryade and crisps aftershow party...heh
