Issue 145 was released on Wednesay and heralded the final appearance of the character Akranya as she found she could cope no more.
Akranya made her first appearance in Issue 101 with the rest of her family and has been a central chaarcter since.
She put many noses out of joint with her rowdy behaviour and ended up on the wrong side of several residents.
Her darkest moment was when she was forced to put her erratic daughter out of her misery during a showdown at the doctor's surgery.Tragedy befell Akranya at a later date when she lost her bullboy son Mellot when he was killed whilst robbing a house.
Akranya's past was explored when her sister Callie was released from jail and it emerged she had actually covered for a crime Akranya commited. the subsequent showdown led Akranya's husband Charles into Callie's arms and Akranya into the depths of despair.
Unable to cope with her life as it stood, Akranya made her final appearance when taking a fatal overdose
